Feyenoord has made a bid for 27-year-old Charles Vanhoutte, according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt. The Belgian midfielder must be transferred from OGC Nice. Vanhoutte is a compatriot of Feyenoord's new technical director, Dévy Rigaux, who undoubtedly still knows the midfielder well from his time in the Belgian Pro League. The controller came to a total of 146 appearances in that competition, divided between two clubs: 98 for Cercle Brugge and 106 for Union St. Gilloise. At the latter club, Vanhoutte earned a transfer to Nice in the summer of 2025. The South Frenchmen paid six million euros last year to bring Vanhoutte to the club. His time at his new employer started promisingly. In his first thirty days, Vanhoutte crowned himself player of the month at Nice, thanks to a goal and an assist. It was also in the same month that Vanhoutte played his first and so far only match for the Belgian national team. Coach Rudi Garcia let him come on in the World Cup qualifying match against Kazakhstan just before time. Since then, Vanhoutte has been part of the selection of the Red Devils three more times, but he has not come to more playing minutes. He is also not part of the World Cup selection of Belgium, partly due to his less frequent appearances in club competition as the season progresses. Nevertheless, Feyenoord and Rigaux still see enough quality in the defensive midfielder. Therefore, the Rotterdammers have made a concrete bid - of unknown height - to Nice. Vanhoutte himself would like to make the move to De Kuip.
