Cercle Brugge sign 19-year-old striker Temperman from Kortrijk

Cercle Brugge have added another young attacker to their long-term plans. The club have signed 19-year-old striker Ilian Temperman from KV Kortrijk, as confirmed on 23 July 2026.

What does Temperman bring to Cercle Brugge?

The young forward has signed a contract running until June 2028, with an option for an additional season. His arrival fits Cercle’s strategy of developing young talent and integrating them into the first team. Jong Cercle gain a player expected to boost their U21 Pro League performances straight away.

Temperman came through KV Kortrijk’s youth academy and also spent several years at KSK Geluwe. Last season he scored six goals in fifteen U21 Pro League matches. Those performances earned him his first professional contract at KV Kortrijk late last year. He made his senior debut on 23 March 2026 in the Challenger Pro League against RFC Luik.

Why does Cercle Brugge see potential in Temperman?

Technical director Luciano Murchio highlights that Temperman will add immediate value to Jong Cercle while also having room to grow into the first team. "We are very happy to welcome Ilian to Cercle. He is a player who will immediately add value to Jong Cercle and at the same time has the potential to develop further within our setup," Murchio said.

The technical director also notes that Temperman’s versatility across attacking positions and his mentality make him a perfect match for the club’s philosophy. Cercle Brugge are known for giving young players opportunities, a strategy that previously delivered strong results.

Cercle Brugge continue building for the future

Temperman’s arrival aligns with Cercle Brugge’s ambition to nurture young talent. In the 2023/2024 season, the club finished fourth in the Jupiler Pro League and secured European football. Recent seasons have proven more challenging in matching that level.

Currently, Cercle Brugge sit fifth in the Jupiler Pro League with zero points. Their next fixture is scheduled for 13 February 2027 at home to Charleroi, who will be sixth in the table at that time.
