Cercle Brugge is still searching for its first victory of the new season. Midfielder Gary Magnée reacted after the 1-1 draw at OH Leuven, stressing the desire is there but that luck has been missing.

The team managed by coach Miron Muslic salvaged a point in the dying seconds of the match in Leuven. Krys-Anthony Madou Kouassi equalised from the penalty spot in the sixth minute of added time, after Davis Opoku had put OH Leuven ahead in the 25th minute. "We fought until the last breath and we will do the same in Charleroi," said Magnée. The midfielder from Soumagne indicated the team was running everywhere in the final phase of the match, but lacked that one fortunate moment.

Position

Cercle Brugge sits in 15th place in the Jupiler Pro League after six matchdays with three points. The team has yet to win a single game, drawing three and losing three. The goal difference stands at minus five, with six goals scored and eleven conceded. The gap to leaders Union St. Gilloise is thirteen points. The recent form shows a pattern of defeat and draw, with the latest results being a draw against OH Leuven, a loss to Gent, a loss to Lommel United, a loss to city rivals Club Brugge, and draws against St. Truiden and Standard Liege.

The next challenge is a visit to Charleroi, who currently sit fourth. That match is scheduled for Saturday, 19 September. In the last meeting between the two sides back in February, Cercle Brugge won 3-4. The full schedule for the coming weeks can be found on our fixtures page.

Magnée remains positive about the squad's effort despite the difficult start. He points out that the foundation is good, but the team must start converting chances into points. The focus is now entirely on preparing for the duel at the Stade du Pays de Charleroi. The Cercle Brugge squad, with all players and their statistics, is always up to date in our squad overview. The next step is to secure a win to improve the league position, which can be followed via the standings.
