Club Brugge has offered 22-year-old Belgian Matteo Dams a contract until 2030. Dams, who has been with Saudi club Al-Ahli since early 2025, is now returning to Europe.

The Belgian left-back, who moved to Al-Ahli in 2025 at age 20, had a contract until mid-2029 with the Saudi club. Club Brugge has now offered him a new contract until 2030.

Background

Dams began his career in the youth ranks of Antwerp. He moved to PSV at a young age, progressed through all youth levels, and eventually made 24 appearances for the senior team. After his time at PSV, he chose a stint in Saudi Arabia in 2025.

Role at Club Brugge

Dams will take on the left-back role and fill the vacancy left by Bjorn Meijer’s move to Sampdoria. He will serve as a backup to the experienced Joaquin Seys and is the first player in his career to play in the Jupiler Pro League.
