Cercle Brugge have confirmed the signing of Luke le Roux. The 25-year-old South African international has put pen to paper on a two-year deal, joining as a free agent after his departure from English side Portsmouth.
Le Roux, born in Stellenbosch, moved to Portsmouth from Swedish club IFK Värnamo last year. During his thirteen months there, the midfielder made seventeen appearances. His move to Belgium marks a fresh start in his career.
The new arrival introduced himself to the club's supporters with a personal message. "Beste supporters, Luke le Roux here, I'm very happy to have signed and I can't wait to see you guys, see you soon!" Le Roux said.
The midfielder is aiming for greater playing time and consistency at Cercle to re-establish himself at club level and with the South African national team, Bafana Bafana.
He joins a side currently sitting 15th in the Jupiler Pro League with three points from six matches. Their recent form reads DLLLD, with the last result a 1-1 draw against OH Leuven. The full list of results and the standings are available online.
Cercle's next fixture is an away match against fourth-placed Charleroi on Saturday, 19 September. The addition of Le Roux is intended to bolster the squad for this and other upcoming games, which can be viewed on the fixtures page. The team is currently without Joel Ndala.
